Reporting on Cross Project Dependencies

The Cloud Coach Enterprise package includes report types for reporting on Cross Project dependencies. Each report type is unique and will pull together records in different ways and the presentation of data is dependent on the report type selected. There are five out of the box report types that capture information on Cross Project Dependencies:

  1. Cross Project Dependencies –  the most general report type pulling in all Cross Project Dependencies in an org without any other details from either the parent or the child
  2. Cross Project Dependencies with Child Project – pulls in all of the details from the Cross Project Dependency object, but also includes the details from the child Project.
  3. Cross Project Dependencies with Parent Project – pulls in all of the details from the Cross Project Dependency object, but also includes the details from the Parent Project.
  4. Cross Project Dependencies with Child Project Task – pulls in all of the details from the Cross Project Dependency object, but also includes the details from the child Project Task.
  5. Cross Project Dependencies with Parent Project Task – pulls in all of the details from the Cross Project Dependency object, but also includes the details from the parent Project Task.

In the majority of cases, the ‘Cross Project Dependencies’ report type will provide the information needed, especially if formula fields are being used to pull information for use in related lists etc. Using the other report types sparingly as this could result in data overload for users if not filtered and managed carefully.
