Deactivating and Deleting Retainers

DEACTIVATING RETAINERS


Retainers will automatically deactivate once the End Date for the Retainer has been reached.  Once a Retainer has been deactivated, the automatic creation of Retainer Line Items will cease and time entries against Projects related to the Retainer will no longer be applied.

To deactivate a Retainer:

  1. From an Account record, scroll to the related list section, locate the Retainers related list, and click on the Retainer Name (Ref Number) to open the record.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Populate the End Date Field.
  4. Click Save

DELETING RETAINERS


 

Deleting a Retainer is not recommended.  If a Retainer is deleted, all Line Item Criteria records and Retainer Line Item records are deleted as well.  Time entries and calculated rates/costs for those time entries will remain unchanged.

Restoring a Retainer, its Line Item Criteria, and its Retainer Line Items will restore the structure of the retainer, but it will not restore the application of time entries to those records.

Should the need arise to delete an Account Rate Card, the steps are as follows:

  1. From an Account record, scroll to the related list section, locate the Retainers related list, and click on the Retainer Name (Ref Number) to open the record.
  2. Click Delete.
